The kaka is a beautiful forest dwelling parrot that feeds of sap, seeds, flowers and wood-boring invertebrates. It has a remarkable bill and can cause forest damage by stripping bark from trees.


Predation and loss of habitat has pushed it back to off-island strongholds like Stewart Island.
